Favorite Tosh Era?

Post by darewon »

Been listening to Peter Tosh a lot of late.

I always found his politics/outspokeness more tolerable and endearing than Marley. Can you imagine all those University jocks with Tosh posters complete with M16 guitar instead of Bob with a spliff?

What's your favorite era? (i.e., Trojan, EMI, Rolling Stones, etc.)

I'm personally biased for the Mama Africa and (gasp!) Nuclear War :)

My favorites would be his Virgin days...right after he left the Wailers. "Legalize It" and "Equal Rights" still sound hot like fyah after all these years.

I agree with Papa Ahmz. Legalize It and Equal Rights are true roots classics and Tosh's best output by far. Bush Doctor is great and Wanted has some nice tracks, but his Virgin years are just too good. His later stuff is a little too rock influenced for me.

all are good, from legalize it to mystic man are perfect albumsno boring stuff every album he made has a totally different sound that is like nothing else.

his pre album days are good stuff, more straight roots tunes, mark of the beast,400 years etc.

hi
undoubtedly his cbs years(even though limited back then to 2 albums)are by far his best;not included his singles output mainly released through his intel-diplo personal label.
iam a little surprised at readingtosh virgin years!!when was it,for i know that he was signed to the rolling stones label after he parted company with cbs, and this for 3 albums.maybe iam not that much knowledgeable about this period on the mystic man's life

I agree with the most..the legalize it and equal rights are the best albums...I also like the other albums very much, but these two albums are very special...Imagine just the "Fools Die" on the wanted album or not gonna give it up on the mama africa...really a great man

i'm confused too, fadel. my copies of legalise it and equal rights are on columbia, not virgin. yet, on the archives legalise it is listed as virgin, and equal rights is listed as both virgin and cbs.

Hi

I believe that the Virgin releases were UK and the Columbia issues were the States.
