Is it safe to say that all Aires releases were in fact early Bullwackie releases?
I know most of them are related to Lloyd Barnes, but there are some releases that have a less obvious connection to him, like 'Forward On a Yard' by The Heptones and 'The Bump' by Jah Vill.

As far as I know Aires was just a Barnes label like some others (Senrab, City Line, Five Arts, Footprints, Rawse, Magic Fire, Great, Hardwax) before the Bullwackies label.

Re: Aires - Bullwackies
No they arnt. First the context, Aires is an early label and Bullwackie has been known for putting out jamaican (Perry) stuff in the beginning of his producing career.Roots Archives wrote:Is it safe to say that all Aires releases were in fact early Bullwackie releases?
E.G. That makes it unlikely that it is all recorded in new york. Bullwackie started in Jamaica and already had ties with the Jamaican music Industry. The most prolific and proven is with Muchie Jackson and his brother. Who were friends with Little Roy. That resulted in Free for all album on Aries partly recorded in the Black Ark.
But lets zoom in on Recession of John Clarke released on Aires. It is a M Jackson/ BullWackie thing
The Jamaican Tafari version produced by M jackson, recorded in Jamaica Black Ark:

Leter remixed by Bullwackie

It also would be strange if he started a label and only released US recorded material. That isnt the jamaican way. There Always were ties between Jamaica en NY. Orhodox Dub on Magic Fire were recordings Clive Hunt took with himm from Jamaica and list go on and on.But the bullwackie sound is easy to recognize everything that sounds different can be questioned.

@ Siegi
I understand the question quite diefferent. Of course not all Wackie/Barnes records were recorded in NY. The question was, if all Airies records are "related" to Barnes. Don't you think Aries was his label?

Well related to Wackies is if he produced it. I guess that is they way I understood it. Not everything on his label was produced by Bullwackie sometime it is just for distributing purposes.
If you mean his involvement for distribution I say yes. But I dont think Ron asked if Aires is a Bullwackie label but if the music is realy produced by him. My example was a Jamaican recorded riddim remixed by him. And bullwackie ges the credit for it on his Aires.
Indeed Aries were other labels. I believe I have seen a jamaican, English and US reggae version of that label.

Well, I guess I didn't get the question right. Of course I agree with your answers.
Anyway I'm surprised you have seen a UK version of the Airies label, but I'm not so much interested in 45's and so I don't know. And I only know 2 Airies LPs ("Free For All" and "Tribal War"). To my knowledge there were no other LPs.

See here the example of the Uk Aries http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e30X-25KZLA
Great song and Dub
Concerning the Aires LP's I would see there are two but Iam not certain, in my back of my mind something tells me that isnt correct
