Greetings,
I much prefer the original Jacob Miller - Tenement Yard album to this King Tubby Dub album. Has anyone else listened to it yet? Upon listening to it a few times, I found it to be pretty dull. The riddims are very bare (which is good sometimes, but not here) and the vocals are replaced be a very annoying synthesizer. I think that it ruins the great riddims from the original, rather than adding to them. Other than for historical purposes.. I'm not sure why this one was dug up. Anyone feel the same or differently? Maybe I'll keep listening and give it another chance..
Roots,

i like the album, and yes they could do without the annoying synthesizer, Tubbs worked overtime on the rhythm tracks real well in my book. but not a bad lp.

that lead synth. has got to go.
incredible tubby mixing, but
I'm not making copies of it for friends.
a little too much cheese.( with the synth..)

I tend to like synthesizer ("Steam Pipe"!), so I'm looking forward to hearing this one.

Agree strongly with Jah Chicken's view...
I was looking forward to this and even pre ordered it.... ruined by those synthesizer.....reminds me of Sale Of The Century.
Have given it a few listens and still find it all very dull as not much gets past that synth sound.

I like it, but then I like jazz fusion like Headhunters and a bit of prog with it's Arps and Moogs! I think it adds a very fresh feel. Anyone who knows who played the synth?
