Hi,
I will be in London this week-end and a good part of my visit should be dedicated to vynil hunting. Been waiting for this a long time.
I read a few threads about london reggae shops on RA, most of which are 5+ years old, i compiled a few adresses:
- Dub vendor Clapham Junction & ladbrooke Groove.
- supertone records Brixton acre lane.(closed?)
- Music Temple Records in Brixton Market you will pick up some great gems old and not so new,One of them old time stylee shops.
- CJS music specialist' in balham south London
- Honest Jons in Portabella Road always has a great selection.(1st hand)
- Sounds of the Universe off Berwick Street near the market also has some great tunes.
- Sister Ray in Berwick Street is worth a view.
- Nudge - Hanbury Street E1
- Second hand shops next to nothing hill? brixton?
If anyone with more recent information could check on this list and tell me which one is still open, or if i missed a famous shop? would be great

Re: Reggae Shops London - Update
All these shops are in ONE city? You're not kidding?
The german city I live in (population half a million) has one or two shops where you can still buy records. But a special shop just for Reggae!? That's unimaginable. And London got more than one???
Now I know it officially: If I ever go to London I'm gonna need a lot of money. A LOT.
Not jealous, happy for you guys.

I am not sure that all of them are specialized in reggae, some of them.
Some of those are probably oriented toward black music, and could or could not have reggae.
But in comparison i live in Paris and right now the only shop left specialised in reggae is patate-records, all the others had to close in the last decade. Even patate is now open only 3 days a week because there is not enough buyers... and people buy on internet. Still a great place to hang out if you ever visit

Dub Vendor is closed but looking for a new venue. Won't help you if you're there this week of course. Supertone is still deh bout.
Some others I can recommend:
**Flashback Records**
50 Essex Road
London N1 8LR
**Eldica**
8 Bradbury Street
Dalston, London N16 8JN
Storbritannien
**Out On The Floor Records**
10 Inverness Street
London NW1 7HJ
Storbritannien
I always take long walks in the evenings when in London and that has proved fruitful in finding record stores you can check the next day.

Thanks Kalcidis i will add those to my list, and remove Dub Vendor. Nice to hear about Supertone.
I expect to walk a lot, with heavy heavy records on my back! Will update on my purchases when coming back, if anyone's interested.

Oh Yeah, this is on at the weekend too
http://www.independentlabelmarket.com
I know there are some of the smaller reggae labels represented there, might be some interesting stuff to pick up...

I have seen Berwick street mentionned a lot, especially for second hand stuff, which is what i'll be looking for mostly, so i will definetly check your adresses out.
The fair seems pretty good for a nice saturday morning, also on the website you linked i see this:
DJ LINE-UP:
11:00am – Wah Wah 45s
11:45am - Pressure Sounds
Dont know what Wah Wah 45s is but the name sounds appealing to me, and Pressure Sounds well it should be good? With a little sunshine as a guest star, that would be perfect... Sooo much to do

Yes, I'm sure Pressure Sounds will be good! And maybe there will be a chance to buy some of the L.P.'s and Singles from their catalogue.
Wah Wah 45's are a label with quite an eclectic roster of artists. They are not just reggae but they do have a great modern reggae band called "Resonators" from Brighton (where I am at on the South Coast of England). If you like modern Roots Reggae then I would recommend checking them out...
Berwick Street is a great place to go record shopping, I've spent many hours and bought many records in that part of London since I was about 15 years old. Much older than that now and haven't been around that way for a long time but I'm sure you'll have a great time and find some real treasure!
