Re: please help find this artist...
Hello, I am looking for alternate versions to two different songs. I was hoping someone here can help me find them.
1.Gimme little sign (sorta rock steady) - I've pretty much eliminated the ones I can sample from [here](http://www.artistdirect.com/cgi-bin/gx. ... ch&start=1) including Hepcat, Sattalites, Syl Johnson.
2.Try a little Tenderness (reggae) - male singer, "tenderness" is sung like "tenderneyeyeyess". Eliminated John King, Byron Lee, Joe White, Ken Boothe.
Both songs sound like Prince Buster and I suspect that Tenderness is but can't find a sample to know for sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit:Has no one on here heard of these versions??

I think that the first song that you're on about is by Owen Grey. I'm sure that I've heard him do a version of that song. Infact, it's the only version I can think of that fits the description.Possibly on one of the many Trojan subsidary labels.

Lenroy, thank you for responding. In all my searches, I did not come across Owen Gray. I found one album, (thanks to the archive from this site:)), Studio 1 Classics - Lovers, that has a song *Give Me Some Sign* but have not found anywhere that offers a sample. I intend to keep looking though. Thanks again for the info.

I found it! I searched for Soul Vendors but don't remember finding Soul Vendors - On Tour. I think it was good to have Owen Gray to cross reference. Thanks again for your help, Lenroy. If anyone is interested in hearing this version, you can sample it [here](http://www.rockersuptown.de/catalog/pro ... ts_id=8183).
Still looking for Tenderness....

Glad I was of help. The website you was directing people to, I couldn't hear anything, windows kept saying unable to decode. It seemed a good source for purchases though. When I'm flush with cash again, I'll check them, thanks.

*The website you was directing people to, I couldn't hear anything, windows kept saying unable to decode.*
That's too bad. When I click on the "listen" button, the file automatically gets downloaded to a temp folder, then Creative PlayCenter opens up and plays the song. On another computer the song is opened in Musicmatch Jukebox, so it sounds like you need to have program that can play it. I'm not a techie but I hope that helps.
*It seemed a good source for purchases though. When I'm flush with cash again, I'll check them, thanks.*
You're welcome! I agree, and LPs no less! I'll be checking back there myself.
