1. Seb will know the exact answer, but I think it's around for some 4 or 5 years now.
2. Don't know.

Re: 2 Questions on Roots Archive
Not sure why I got a mention from Ranking Trevor.
But I agree this is a very good site. My opinion is that the sheer amount of data and the clear and easy to search way it is laid out is what makes the site so good.
I have been using the database to aid my collecting activity for 2 years now (I think) but only recently arrived at the Forum.
I am not usually a Forum person, but this one is different because it has great characters on it and most of them have LOADS of deep knowledge to input.
To get the knowledge you have to go to college - and Roots Archive is my reggae university!
I would ass another question:
Why did you guys start this? What was the prompt that set it in motion?

Re: 2 Questions on Roots Archive
Hello guys,
thanks for the nice comments.
I couldn't even remember when all of this has started but as there is a 2002-2006 copyright on the bottom of the page, it must be 2002.
Iirc the first web address was reggaecovers.free.fr, it shows what the first purpose of this website was. I remember starting it with front page (argh). Luckily my best mate (mat) was studying php & sql at that time and he made many improvements to the site, year after year.
Roots Archives as it is now is quite recent, I think it will be 3 years old on January 2007.
The database has grown a lot thanks to many, many contributors and it is still growing.
There will be lots of new things on Roots Archives early 2007, most probably reviews/comments per album, music categories (from ska to dancehall, from vocal albums to dub) and new features for our registered users (don't know what exactly yet). There will be a soft change in the graphic design too as we have to include all these new features.
Best,
Seb

Hi.
I remember the previous web site back in 2002 specially the pics with the flash on the cover... you used to have some bottlegs in your collection why you dont put this albums too.
Am a huge fan of this web site is a cathedral of reggae keep on the best source of information to the roots-dub-dj-dancehall reggae lovers
