I met him backstage at V 99. As he walked up to the stage I tunred to him and said:
"Knock 'em dead James"
He replied with a huge smile and said, simply:
"Yeah!"
And boy, did he knock em dead that night!
I am so glad I saw him live and am not sat here now wishing I had seen him.

I wish i had been less drunk, stoned and tired and had made more of the meeting. I didn't even get his autograph as when you have a press pass around your neck it is considered bad form to hunt autographs.

blacks are so talented..r&b, hip hop, dancehall, reggae, blues, jazz..all of it...i love it...what icon do we have today..??? i guess 90 % of them are gone..james brown, curtis mayfield, barry white, 2pac, biggie smalls, marvin gaye, bob marley, peter tosh, michael jackson, ray charles, john lennon, elvis presley, kurt cobain, george harrison, what a list of great musicians
