about a guitar-led piece of reggae taken from a stanley turrentine jazz piece

Post by fadel diagne »

hi guys
it's been more than 25 years now that i have been looking out from the author of an instrumental reggae piece where the lead is guitar.it's only recently that i discovered that it was adapted from"midnight and you"by stanley turrentine the cti-based jazz late saxophonist.it's been bugging ever since i listened it from a private radio station which was broadcasting in the gambia(a neighboring country of senegal)and which was an opening theme and jingle for a program.is somebody familiar with such a theme;i always told to myself it was from willie lindo even though iam not familiar with all willie lindo's lps.probably some ernest ranglin;i have checked chinna's sticky fingers but it's not on that.

fadel, i checked midnight and you, and am not strongly recognizing the riff. Chinna is the great jazz guy though, and i'll bet its in his repertoire, but i only know sticky fingers, too. Ranglin has a more "noodling" or fidgety sound, somewhat more like Lynn Taitt, who murders the strings, and yeah, Willie Lindo favors the soft, tropical breeze-jazz too, but still i think Chinna and Willie are your best bets. Willie did an lp called Tuned In for Joe Gibbs, and I'll bet the source is indeed an lp like that from the 70's/ early 80's. sorry not to be of more help.

There are circuits you can run audio into to make lights flash with the music. I just built one the other day, but it runs off of 120VAC and flashes a lamp. I'm sure if you did a little research you could find something to suit your needs.
