Hi Guys,
I have just picked up a CD called "Reggae`s Fire and Water 1974 - 1979" on Clocktower (not Abraham).
It has an extended 12" mix of the above song with an excellent dub version (running length is 7 mins)
Can anyone tell me about this extended track as the only other version to this song I have heard is one of the bonus track "Version Dress Back" on the CD re-issue of Leggo Dub and it is definately not that track.
The CD I have nor the Earth and Stone track is listed on the archives.

Hi Lion,
I am aware of the fact that CD`s were not around in those days and that any material on CD from this period has been re-issued.
I`m also aware Clocktower has not re-issued CD`s in their own right. I have been advised though that Abraham has released Clocktower titles under licence.
It is a grey area and it leaves me wondering whether to avoid this label completely.
However, the reason for this thread was to get some feedback on the Earth and Stone extended version of "Wicked Have Fe Dress Back" which I have never previously knew existed.
It is a great track on a great CD and the sound quality on this particular title is superb .

Got this 12" on Clocketower. The flip is C Campbell "Please Be True". Actually bothe tune are on the Please Be True riddim (original riddim by ? / Studio 1 affair from memory).
OK tune IMO, but not crucial.

Re: Earth and Stone -"Wicked have fe Dress Back
lets talk about the tracks.
Natty dread learn = Truth & Right by Dillinger
Avarice dub = Money dub Horace Andy
etc etc all songs are release before.
Track 6=Love and Harmony Fred Locks with Brigadier Jerry? only knows as solo track from same album by Fred Locks without Briggy.
Track 9=Earth & Stone - Wicked have fe dress back?
Is Please be true Rydim Cornell Campbell.
Wareika was quicker than me.

Hi Lion
Thanks for the feedback.
Please note that my knowledge of the music is no where near as extensive as many people on this site.
When I left school in 1979 I started getting no reggae. I bought much reggae music between the years 1979-1985 but it was all the dancehall sound of the day.
Around 1985 when Sleng Teng and the digital revolution came along I moved away from reggae and in to jazz.
I sold my reggae vinyl in the mid 1990`s to fund my puchases of original jazz vinyl (mainly Bluenote).
I have only just started getting back into reggae this last 3/4 years and prior to that had not followed the music for nearly 20 years.
Its only since I renewed my interest that I have come to realise just how much wonderful music was recorded prior to the Dancehall sound that I followed back in the 80`s.
I want to learn about the music, the artists, the producers, the labels etc. I can only do this by reading books, reviews and liner notes and also by asking questions.
I was interested in the "Clocktower presents Reggae Fire and Water" release because I have never seen it before. It is not listed on this forum and I was not famailiar with most of the tracks it contained
However, it did look like a good release and thats why I bought it. I was not aware until you informed me that Clocktower don`t issue CD`s and that what I have on this label is probably bogus.
But now, because of your feedback, I know what to watch out for next time.
So please don`t dismiss my questions as irrelevant because they do serve a purpose.
Like I said, people like you have a knowledge and understanding of the music that far exceeds mine and I value your opinions whatever they may be.
Dave
