Greetings,
Does anyone know exactly where the Johnny Osbourne - Purify Your Heart track that appears on the Trojan Roots Boxset came from? I've heard sound clips from a 7" that appears to be an original, more bare version of this track. The track "Nyah Man" seems to have been produced in a similar style. Does anyone know the orginal 7"s or albums that these tracks came from? Producers, etc?
Blessings,
Jah Chicken

Purify Your Heart is also included on Johnny's "Water Pumping" album. Which I am hoping someone will re-issue VERY soon.

I don't think the original (imo superior) Techniques 7" version was ever on any album?

Hi Jason
Is "Water Pumping" viewed as a classic? I have this gathering dust at home. If so, I must dig it out and give it an air!

There are several versions of this tune.
The one on the Trojan Roots is the Winston Riley cut from 73. This one his the first cut.
Their is a second version, also produced by Winston Riley. I'm not 100% sure but it might be a recut of the original or an overdubed version of the original. It was released on 12" in the late 70's or early 80's with Inflation on the flip. Inflation is also a killer tune with different mix for the version LP and the 7" one.
The last one is the Jammy cut on the Water Pumping LP. From memory the riddim differ. IMVO an average tune, especialy compared to the original cut.

Another issue of *Purify Your Heart* was backed with *Politician*, put out on a Black Joy blue vinyl 12", produced by Winston Riley. Both sides were recorded (and released) for the first time in 1980/1 (same date as the *Warrior* LP).

Jackie P, this one must be the same as the second W Riley cut I mentioned. perhaps I mixed up the flip ("Inflation" instead of "Politician") or perhaps Inflation appeared only as the flip for the Jam press? Don't know.
