Culture are definitely the best band I have ever seen. Lucky enough to see them in their prime! Awesome.
Funnily enough I was just going through some old books and found an old ticket stub I was using as a book mark. Details as follows;
"Gregory Isaacs and the Roots Radics Band from Jamaica
Monday 6th October 1980
Top Rank Suite Brighton"
£4!! Ah, the good old days!

6anbatte by any chance has there ever been a live recording of that show, because gregory isaacs with the roots radics in the early 80's was just wicked. I have a live recording in 1982 Live at the ROXY in Cali which is just mind blowing

Burning Spear and Culture are my two favorite live acts. I love it when Winston Rodney puts the microphone in his back pocket and starts going off on the bongos.

Re: reggae artists live
In no particular order:
BMW (of course)
Peter Tosh (solo)
Bunny Wailer (solo)
The Wailers (right after Bob's passing, no lead vocalist--the audience sang instead)
Judy Mowatt (solo)
Marcia Griffiths (solo)
Rita Marley (solo)
Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers
Burning Spear
Gregory Issacs
Culture
Wailing Souls
Jimmy Cliff
Big Youth
Earl Zero
The Skatalites
LKJ
Steel Pulse
Since these are the ones I can list without thinking about it too much, they must be the best. More will probably come to me later. I think the only ones on the list I haven't seen more than once are Big Youth and Ziggy Marley.
Looking at all this, my first reaction is: I'm old.

Just checkout my page: more will come, I still have to convert some stuff to MP3. Like Gregory Isaacs backed by Sly & Robbie & Taxigang, Steel pulse, Wailing Souls & Reggae Regulars, BMW, etc...

What about Augustus Pablo & Rockers International band ?

Re: reggae artists live
I never got to see Augustus Pablo, unfortunately. He was supposed to play at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in '98 or '99. He cancelled his appearance at the last minute, though. I was really disappointed. I did get to see Junior Byles, so that made up for it.
