Jah Bible (Don Mais)

Post by Ranking BC »

Hello. Does anyone have any feedback on his LP called Read Up Jah Bible? It appears to be a compilation of his tunes and I'm assuming that he is the featured vocalist here. I am curious to know if his version of Blood of the Saint is based on Phillip Frazer's tune. I'm guessing that this is the case since they are both from Greenwich Farm and have worked together before.

Thanks for any info,

hi ranking bc. the album isnt the strongest i've ever heard, using mainly dancehall riddims, also 'blood of the saint' is the philip frazer song.also covers 3 ken booth songs and a dennis brown tune too.

Thanks for the reply. I have heard only one tune from this set, and the vocals really weren't the strongest either. So I can image it being a subpar release. I was mainly interested because I like the Don Mais productions on the Roots Tradition complilation, too bad he didn't last longer. It seems that Junjo, Linval, Jah Thomas, etc. just passed him by in the early dancehall era... ??

Thanks again,

Not that great huh Kemar?
I've seen it listed as songs from 1973-79.

I would imagine some good rythms...you're saying no?

Anyone else heard this Roots Tradition release?

hi matt. well i was a bit dissapointed when i first heard it. actually listened to it few days back, its not a bad LP but certainly not a classic. i was hoping for a rootsy recording when i bought it. maybe thats where my dismay lies.

Righteous Kemar, thanks for the extended 411.
Quick ? for ya'...
The riddims and vocals are from that era (73-79) though correct?
Not voice overs or new recordings?

I know that there's a 90's remix of the title track, and I just found out 'Will You Still Love Me' is digital.

Hope these aren't the versions on there. :(

hi matt. sorry for delay in reply. ya the version on your file sounds the same to me, nice tune, but unfortunately the 'will you still love me' version in on there too and 'the girl i left behind'. they really shouldnt be on this record IMO. hope this is of some help to you.
