Hi Jamann,
if you like the singing styles of Wayne Jarrett, you must listen to Horace Andy as well.
If you want to start with Wackies then go to 'Dancehall Style' by him.
Greetings

Hey there, I was just listening to Wayne Jarrett last night, and I agree that he is one of the best creative sound makers. Try to get ahold of his album named Showcase Vol. 1 (bullwackies label), I believe that it's one of his best. PEACE-RIDDIM

Bubble Up is the same Album as Showcase Vol 1. Only the name is different. You must listen also to his "Mini Showcase" Album - really great. Like Showcase Vol. 1 it is produced by the Great Lloyd Barnes who created a wonderful sound in his studio which is sometimes similar to the Lee Perry Black Ark Studio Sound. If you don't know Lee Perry you must listen to albums like "Build The Ark", "Open The Gate" and of course the album "Heart Of The Congos" by The Congos also produced by Lee Perry.

The mini showcase album mentioned above is recently re-released on cd and contains in addition tracks from Horace Any and Naggo Morris as well. Great Wackies stuff... one of the best!
Other singers who are more or less alicke: Barrington Levy (early stuff like the "bounty hunter" album), Wayne Wade (especially check out the Linval Thompson produced album "Poor & Humble" and the yabby you stuff), Michael prophet, etc...
The typical dancehall singer style of the early eighties... very interesting period as far as I am concerned.
enjoy...

I found the Poor & Humble-album quite boring actually. Even though if the title-track and the dub counterpart are remarkable!

I think The Albums he recorded for Barnes are the best. I think in the 70's he sounded sometimes too much like horace andy. I think the Wackies/Jarrett combination is the best.
but i love that wackies sound. Listen To Horace Andy "Dancehall Style" (1982) Love Joys "reggae vibes (1981), the meditations "I love Jah" (1982), Junior Delahaye "Showcase. Reallly Really Great Stuff.
I guess the Keith Hudson Album "Playing It Cool" was also recorded at the wackies' studio. Top A Di Top Record. Go And Get It. Get Them all

Anybody have an opinion on Jarrett's "Chip In" (1982) LP? Line up includes Junjo, Radics, and Scientist. It's still on my list of LPs to get. Thasks & Praise - BC

Re: wayne jarret
As you might guess the sound is the bubbling dancehall sound created by Junjo and Scientist in these days. Sparse riddims with the wellknown dubstyles lay the foundation for Wayne Jarrett's vocals. The song 'Love ina me heart' is a reworking to 'Bubble Up'.
This is not as rootsy or spacy like the Bullwackie Stuff but good listening anyway.
In 1984 he settled in Hartford,Con.,USA and recorded on more album called 'Inner Circle' which has not quite the quality of his earlier recordings.
