Well last night was my birthday and also found out on a radio interview, Maxi Priest b-day as well....we both fall under the sign of "Levi".
So, the show at the Sportsmans Club in Hartford, CT. had Maxi Priest open the show. He put forth 200% but the 99% Jamaican crowd was obviously there strictly to see Capelton. Maxi Priest sang the well known song "WILD WORLD", he tried to hold the mic out so people would sing along, but true, only a handful responded. I found it highly disrespectful especially from a Jamaican audience.
CAPELTON, FINALLY came out, it took a long while. He was in his HARDCORE dancehall mood and COMMANDED the crowd 500%. I saw him before and he was a bit more toned down and sang songs completely. Last night the chanting stop and start, stop and start...everybody jumping and waving and of course FYAH BURN! Musta gone through a ton of butane lighters....LOL...
As usual he was dressed immpeccably in a blue Fyah-mans suits with red trim.
Irie birthday to you Maxi Priest, and thx for the birthday show....

Re: Maxi & Capelton
I saw him 2 times. The first time he played with "Grigry" and Buju. The vibes that night were a "milder" dancehall style and he sang the songs all the way to the end.
The last time I seen him, he was more HARD-CORE dancehall. The show was still good, but I preferred the songs being sung to completion rather than all the choppiness of the vibes.
He COMMANDS the stage for sure. His message of "FYAH-Burn" is his beliefs that everything in life needs "fyah." He was on a radio interview (the day of the show) with Maxi Priest and that was his message.
Bring at least 2 "lytas"...LOL...you gonna need them to get ya through the night.
The show above sounds wicked. I'll be in Jamaica then~

Re: Maxi & Capelton
Maxi Priest has such talent but his recent albums are disappointing. Man with the Fun, Combnation and 2 the Max have 1-2 decent songs each the rest is fluff.

Now there's a concert contrast - going from Maxi to Capleton all within a blink or so.
Reminds me of the times when we used to hop out of the double hot jacuzzi into the adjoining swimming pool.
In this concert case, guess that'd be reversed.

Re: Maxi & Capelton
I will be in Jamaica @ that time, so unable to attend. I hope he gets a better response from the crowd.
Your right HUGE contrast. Maxi Priest gave 200%, but it was clearly a CAPELTON crowd....
I felt bad for him. He spent the night before in the CALABSH restaurant signing autographs, pictures taken and then everyone just stood their like statues...waiting for him to leave the stage.
Tough crowd....
