Earth Last Messenger

Post by Jah Chicken »

Greetings!
I recall seeing an LP by the band "Earth Last Messenger" that was produced by Jack Ruby. Is this album a recent rerelease? I know that they have appeared on some Jack Ruby compilations, but I don't know anything about a solo album of theirs. Does anyone know the name of this album, and any more information? Many Thanks!!

Greetings Jah Chicken

The Jack Ruby produced album you refer to is "Ivory Towers" by Earth Messengers.

They also released "Reggae Time" under the name Jah Messengers.

The group is Vinnie Taylor on lead vocals and Milton Taylor and Bedster Henry on harmonies (Bedster replaced Emelious Smiley who was one of the original vocalists).

I haven't ever played either of these albums all of the way through, but that might just because the sound is too "modern" for me.

Incidentally, I bought the albums on the back of "Hypocrites" on the "Jack Ruby Hi Fi" album which is an absolute scorcher as I could have sworn I read they were the same group. On reflection (and on the back of what Ites says earlier) I assume they aren't.
