I like that real raw dub. My favorite album of all time is "Upsetters Dub 14 Blackboard Jungle" by Lee Perry and the Upsetters. This album is rhythm and bass off Heart of the Congos, Max Romeo's War In a Babylon, and his early Wailers cuts but as a unified piece it's amazing. It's got a grittiness and bouncy, non-electronic funkiness to it that I find missing in most dub.
Can someone point me towards some non-electronica dub of this kind?

Re: Funky Dub
these first two albums popped into my mind:
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3687
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3636
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/3355
for Susan Cadogan's version of the Miracle's - Do It Baby.
http://www.roots-archives.com/release/477
the first track on this album is great! the rest is mostly covers of American R & B- some better than others-(most can't touch the originals-but fun to here the reggae versions)

Dude did have a point though. I didn't want Jamaican sorta dubbish covers of American Funk/Soul, I wanted Jamaican dub reminiscent of a certain sound. Having already been out to the record store today, I'd have to say that he answered the question really, really well. Not that I don't want more, but the dub he recommended was irie.
