Simply Vinyl Pressings

Hi All.

I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the Simply Vinyl 180g pressings?

It seems they have a few decent titles on offer - Marcus Garvey, Super Ape, etc. - anyone comment on the quality of these represses? Are they worth the extra $$$?

I have a copy of Burning Spear"Marcus Garvey/Garvey Ghost",very good material,but I personally prefer the sound quality of the original Island/Mango pressing [it's a bit louder].But still it's a must worth buying if you can't get hold of the original pressing,it would actualy be very good if they bought the rights from most of the record labels that deal with reggae & that do not want to re-press vinyls.Greensleeves are doing the right thing I believe,they have decided to re-press some good titles,but they should do a survey,or,check out some used record stores sites [also ebay] & see up to what prices their records are worth,maybe that way they will vinylize again!!!

I have bought three Simply Vinyl 180g double albums.
They are Horace Andy-In the Light/In the Light Dub,V/A-If Deejay Was Your Trade and Max Romeo-Open The Iron Gate.Apart from the low cost,they are manufactured from virgin vinyl which makes surface noise just about inaudible.I run a good MC cartridge(Transfiguration Aria) on my turntable ,so when the needle hits the groove there is no vinyl roar till the music comes in.
You say"Are they worth the extra $$$?" Buy them direct!Here in the UK they are about £12.00.That`s a bargain for a double album. Thoroughly recommended,bearing in mind the price you would pay for the originals.

Even though I generally only buy vintage vinyl, I have several Simply Vinyl offerings.

I can't fault them.

they're clean as clean can be, but the volume isn't so loud. I have the Skinhead Revolt and Skinhead Moonstomp 180 grams.

I have super ape and in the light/in the light dub, i think they're worth bying, you've got a thick 180 grams heavy vinyl album with great music....

got marcus garvey, exodus, marley live, funky kingston, and freedom sounds in dub.

all of them sound great to me. the vinyl is high quality and all of the records sound warm and smooth.
worth the extra $$$

Not to dredge up a four year old thread, but just curious about the quality of the Super Ape LP Simply Vinyl...

Admittedly, it can be a kind of muddy sounding album, and that's kind of part of the sound/charm, but I had this idea that if it's on Simply Vinyl, it must sound even more totally amazing. I recently found a cheap copy and am considering picking it up if the sound is much different from my old reissue Upsetter label copy...

The SV copy is most likely better than the rather crappy Upsetter reissue. At least my reissue had some rather odd audio artifacts that weren't on the original.
