Hi, a friend of mine and I are attempting to make a documentary on the FATHER OF REGGAE, Joe Higgs.. Joe HIggs is an unsung hero in the reggae world and i would like to show his story..If ANYONE has personal photos, footage etc. of JOE HIGGS, that we could purchase or make a copy of, that would be great. My friend and I are not doing this for personal gain but only to show the world how much of an impact Joe Higgs had on music history...any info is much appreciated. please email me at mike_busa@hotmail.com

You should try and get in touch with Roger Steffens, he must have interviewed Joe Higgs at some point.

my friend i am doing the documentary with has already spoken with roger...we are out here in los angeles.....

So boss, ask Roger for Jim Marshalls number if you don't have it already. Jim used to drive Joe around and help him back in the mid 90s there in LA. I have many stories of hanging out at Jims with him and Joe taking about reggae.

I also have a vid I shot of him up here in Arcata on one of his visits.

Nuff Respect for taking on this crucial project. Joe was a great singer, songwritter and teacher, but he was upset by the lack of respect his career was given. I miss him alot.

dubwise....i will definitely take your advice...much appreciated...i am also curious to find out how i could get a hold of that footgae you shot...that would be excellent because we already have some home footage when joe was in ireland a couple years before he died.

Hail up Mikey Dread. So you doing a documentary on
JOE HIGGS but of all the people you mentioned that you checked, how come you don't check Joe's daughter Marcia? You should check with Marcia Higgs first because she is the lagacy that father Joe left for InI to reach out to if InI need to do anything on his behalf. I'm sure Marcia could give you some pertinent information. Just recently I came across a site advertising the 2nd Annual JOE HIGGS MUSIC AWARDS that she apparently founded so it is not hard to contact the HIGGS family. Much raspect and good luck with your project.
