matrix number

I'm a 7" collector and I'm trying to be sure about some my items I suppose that are original press.
I bought the Knotty Discography and I'm checking the matrix number on the records with those of the discography. However it seems that also the re issue of some 7" have exactly the same matrix number. What can I do to know if the actual item is an original One?

Comparison....
Somtimes I've been able to differentiate by comparing them side by side. the only problem with this is that you have to have two copies. Reprints often leave off production info/credits, dates, etc. Another way is to compare it with another record you might have on that same label (and you know that one is an original). Certainly not the only way, but hust a few suggestions. hope it helps. aDam

PS I've even seen on some matrix numbers next to the (side) A it might have a 2. and on the B(side)... a B2.
Mainly on UK reprints (Shaka and Ariwa)...but has anybody else noticed this? ADam

For Jamaican presses, most the time you can tell from the label texture, print, ink & font used..the name of the guy who etched the record, distributor names & addresses on the record (and knowledge of who was where & when etc)
