I've noticed that i'm unable to post pictures in with our forum posts on here and i was just wondering why this is?
it doesn't take up any bandwidth of the website and it can enhance posts greatly so why is there no feature for embedding photos?
any chance admin can turn on the HTML??or [img] tags etc.?
I seem to remember being able to post pictures in here at one time, if there is a way could you let us know.
posting Jpegs/pictures in forum posts???

I just replied to this thread:
http://www.roots-archives.com/forum/read.php?6,31043
Bu the threads u mention did not answer my question, a few people mentioned bandwidth as an issue but there would not be a bandwidth problem as long as u didn't host the pictures on the roots archive servers. Just simple IMG tags or allowing HTML would enable us to post pictures, and it would be easy to limit the size if people had probs with huge pictures!
But i also hate those big signature pictures with adverts and the flashing one! but as explained in my other post u can easily limit the size.

plus if we could post pictures, people could very easily post up missing artwork which could then be added by admin to the archive, it would make it very easy for people to contribute, you could have a thread just for this, or a section of the forum for missing artwork.

Im sure the forum options would allow this with just a few clicks. Leggo, how easy is it for you to get some of these contributions worked on? i know you check these boards frequently but a few things seem to of not been acknowledged?

Re: posting Jpegs/pictures in forum posts???
It should be as easy as one click to allow HTML or IMG tags, but the idea of a new section for new artwork makes sense, will save lots of time and allow others to help confirm and add to info, you might even get some little stories +extra info added to threads which could be included. Perhaps a related information box under the info.
Then once the info had been added to the archive the thread could be closed maybe.
I guess it's all down to the admin to decide all of these things, but a great idea i think. It should theoretically allow roots archives to grow at a much faster rate than before which can only be a good thing.
Maybe an online interface could be made for users to add straight to the main archive but with an approval function so all the entries had to be approved first. Maybe even list the users name next to the submitted info which may encourage more people to help.
I think one of the main problems here is the confirmation that the info given is correct, obviously roots archive doesn't want to be publishing the wrong info but how does the info currently get confirmed?
who better than the reggae fans and collectors to verify info.
Would be great to see this happen, i really hope it does. Maybe this could be the start of adding more formats....
(Maybe u can reward the person who submitted the most new albums to help encourage posting)

hmn rewards may end in fake vinyl being submitted if you know what i mean? I think this could be a good idea of having another section, still think it would be good to have an "events" section also..
I like the idea of an input form which is then confirmed by the admin, seems like a good way of getting additional info onto the system..

If I look at the 'Corrections' threat, I don't see the corrections people submit on the site change.. does the admin of the site even reads it or what?
Because we can discuss here forever, but without the admin we are nowhere.
