CLOCKTOWER

Post by selecta bing »

I have just taken delvery of JAH THOMAS Dance on the Corner
on CD and it has unlisted / uncredited tracks.
Can anyone tell me who they might be by.
They sound like much later productions
and I think LITTLE JOHN is on at least one track.

Also I want to get more CLOCKTOWER releases on CD
because they are often wicked

BUT I know some of them can be poor quality or just plain wrong !
( or are on other discs under a different name )

So which ones should be AVOIDED!!!
and which ones are WICKED !!!

the unlisted tracks are Little John, and the album is "Reggae Dance"... produced by Jah Thomas. http://www.roots-archives.com/release/2048

Thanks David
That is great to know because I was looking to get some Little John
AND Soljie Hamilton music and here they both are.

SOLJIE HAMILTON seems quite under rated
yet has been involved in so many wicked albums.

What do people think are his finest works?

Some great clocktower cds are:

King Of Dub (I think this is clocktower but not sure)
Ital Corner (Jazzbo Production)
Golden Rockers (Reggae Exports)

I do have a couple of sealed copies of all these cds at £4.50 each, if u need them.

But alot of these clocktower cds i think are bootlegs, i seem to remember reading some bad things about Abrahams+Clocktower about them bootlegging stuff and mis-crediting songs etc.(I'm not sure if Abrahams and Clocktower are the same people but i seem to think they are linked)
But there has been loads of excellent stuff put out on clocktower.

Definitely is Clocktower and sounds superb. I do get the feeling, after listening to it on headphones, that it is sourced from vinyl, but it sounds so good that I am not 100% sure.

As discussed many times here before, bwoyrough, Clocktower was 'bought' by Abrahams from Brad's widow. But there is much dispute about if he owns the rights to re-issue this stuff. I don't know the answer. And such is the disarray in reggae music regarding copyright, I doubt anyone does know who owns this stuff - or ever will, unless it ever gets tested in court!

yes i also think that that album came from vinyl, same with a few of those clocktower cds but they still sound good.
King of Dub is an excellent album, love this one, i think i may have a spare copy of this too. But i also picked up some copies of Yabby U - Deliver Me from My Enemies, now this was poor quality definatley from vinyl, i forget what the label was but came from the same place i got the others.

Thanks for the info on Abrahams, i have a terrible memory! i know it's been discussed loads of times before.

Memory loss, eh!

You seem to get a lot of that with reggae music fans...
