Re: Shame on Audiomaxxx.com
You`ve hit a sore note for the musicans and producers here.
The British goverment last week said they want to regulate these download sites.
There are two countries that have not changed their law Russia and Canada which have their own laws on the matter.
The music biz is losing so much money with them releasing stuff for download two or three days after it came out.
The music biz used to be a trade thats now been over run by the rip off of the artists and labels.
Who ever invents a anti pirarcy device is gonna make a lot of money,I know they have things already but its a losing battle cos they keep breaking the codes.
Not only is the mp3 download sites and supermarkets selling cheaper cds that is putting record and cd shops out of biz.
Now we have the USB system on turntables and now cassette machines so you can transfer all your old tapes on to the computee, but they are going to have to do it in real time,so to archive all the past tapes of the past 40 years in the world for archiving its going to take them another 100 years to do that.
Nothing is indistructable and when the format is plastic it will melt as the world heats up.
peace

IMHO music playing on a computer is for the toilet ONLY (or the office if you aren't lucky enough to have hi-fi in your workplace). While taking a c**p some reggae music on the laptop helps pass the time
Elsewhere, give me hi-fi sound all the time.
Having said that, I have heard some very good set ups with a Mac at the heart of the system. But these are high end with great sound cards and brilliant peripherals.

Yer its a tin pan headphone tin pan sound, What ever happened to the big ghetto blasters are they too heavy to carry for the youth dem.Plus its all compressed sound and when you put it through a analogue graphic EQ the graphics cant pick up the digital binarie ones and zeros.
Which is no good for sound men and women.Plus the settings say EQ on computees are done by clicks on a mouse and you cant get the fine turning like you can from the levers on a thing thats not a computees and when you move the levers you can feel the weight unlike the computess.
Peace

please show a little more respect for those who use computers as a music player.
my computer is connected to my mixer and I really enjoy the sound that comes out of the speakers. not to mention how easy it is to pick the right song at the right moment and to have a quick overview on thousands of records.
personally I don't bring reggae music in the toilet at all... it's just blasphemy!

Computers are digital and not analogue.
The sound man just want the analogue for its better sound
far better than the sound quality on digital.i would still use the (old)reel to reels for recording in real time than all that compressed signals on digital.

Re: Shame on Audiomaxxx.com
The Recording Industry Association of Jamaica RIAJam and other music associations like JACAP and the newly formed producer's collection society JAMMS are appropriate avenues to use in this effort, but they do need the support of individuals. This is what music producers, performers and songwriters do in other countries, they unite under the banner of music associations to fight pirates like AUDIOMAXXX who threaten to kill our industry. Piracy cannot be fought through individual effort. It MUST be done as a collective effort.

right!
but when you are home it is so comfortable to use computer as a music player!
honestly I can choose to use vinyl decks, cd players or computer and they have all their advantages.
about analogue stuff, you should really try some digital mixer because they are far better than the analogue ones.
but if you chose to stick to old equipment even if their quality is lower than some new stuff, that's a choice I can understand! I know people who stick to their old typing machine and there's no way to explain them computers make it better!

Re: Shame on Audiomaxxx.com
Greetings,
It looks like most of you have enuff money to have massive equipment at home. And to buy LP's.
I would like to say that I&I bredrin here in Chile, South America, have organised sound systems with two portable cd players (discman) and a pair of speakers, because we have not enuff money to set up a real sound system, but nuttin can't stop I man Rasta, no dunza, so we set up a poor sound system anyway (pretty jamaican anyway, isn't?) and de people dem love it, so I&I just want to say yu don't dis computer and ting, beca music is music, if you are elitists, at least don't be disrepectful.
Music in computers have helped those who are not lucky enuff to buy or even find LP's and even CD's locally. (The only Reggae music found here is Bob Marley's, not even Jr Gong's) and have become one of the main media to spread Jah music.
Of course, shame on Audiomax, stealing other people's ting.
Selassie I Know !
Bless
