"Alive and well " and "reggae moviment" are 2 killer roots albums, very good music and singer, if you call "hard" the melancholic vibes and that you like it then you need this albums...
I have see with google that maybe another album exist, called "Jah Malla" but i was unable to see the track names, somebody know if its another title for one of the 2 others albums plz?

I am some where in between Fabroots and benjamin. In my opinion Jah Malla is good, but not great.

Re: jah malla
I say killer cause the best tunes in are... Then it need to be specified.
(I have check, i count 6 great songs in "alive an well" + 2 goods, "alive and well", "rumours of war" are subtiles and greats, "israel train" is in my top reggae songs! In "reggae moviment" who have some same tracks i count a new great one + 2 goods, "wait until the light go now" is very dynamic and great...)
Cant understand you guys! Remember about Rastafarians "orthodox" Capp? :/
Im confused!
Maybe you dont like a lot cause its not PURE roots?

Ites Fab,
I have seen more than once that 'reggae moviment' was referred to as 'jah malla', so it's quite possible that these are the same records.

hi
i have been loving jah malla ever since i knew them in the 70'sd.they are the first reggae band to ever visit senegal back in may 1977.with sons of two legendary ja roots instrumentists:michael ranglin(son of ernest ranglin)on keyboards and noel alphonso(son of legendary skatalites rolando alphonso on drums and latter to be musical director for sister carol.they have 2 main releases"alive and well"on clappers records and"movements"on cbs.they appeared also on augustus pablo's"east of the river nile""king tubby meets rockers"i still cannot remember which one of the two" and in a pablo album that was released in 1985.i used to love 2 main us reggae bands jah malla from new york and the rastafarians from santa cruz california.i still own a demo of acoustic and live unreleased sessions from jah malla dating back from 1986.i think their lead vocalist cleon douglas is living now as sound system operator or a radio host in vermont.a pity the disbanded.i found them much more talented than any act that surfaced in the 90's be it in jamaica or anywhere
kindest regards

Re: jah malla
well what i mean by live is not in concert but some demo tracks with the whole groups as opposed to other accoustic songs that were already in progress back in 1986.to trade those unreleased demo tapes would be really dangerous considering how i got it.
but i can understand that you love jah malla as i do.but i think there is a live recording of them dating back from 1978 and backing burning spear i think.any a friend told me so.what do you have to trade with?i mostly looking for reggae dvd of concerts
kindest regards
