I & I LP on Soundoff ....same as "Regulars"?!!

Has anybody got the back of the album cover to this album? I'm looking for more info on the production credits and band members.

The RA has it listed as a "regulars" album, but judging by the several 12" Discos I have, It would seem that the band name is actually "I & I" and NOT the "regulars".

Where does it say that these two groups are one and the same? Just listening to the music, these two groups sound completely different...

Crucial Tony da costa is a player for I&I (according to the 12" Discos) but not for "Regulars"...

Although I have not acquired a copy of the I&I LP, It seems that the album is a Self Titled one, named after the group name (I&I).

I would not doubt that these two groups may have shared some common players, due to the fact that they are both UK roots reggae outfits, but I highly doubt that they are one and the same....can anybody help?

As I only have the one 12" from the regulars and that is in the standard Greensleeves cover I can't give you too much information, but the A side is simply credited to the Reggae Regulars whilst the B side is credited to George " Flea" Clarke. Both tracks were produced by Lloyd "TCB" Patten.

6anbatte: This thread is what promptred me to ask this question, because I never considered that these two groups are the same, and I never noticed before, that the RA coupled them together....

so again I ask, can anyone give any true insight into this...or can anyone provide any credit info from the back cover of the I&I LP (If there is any info on there)?

Strange thing fe true that the I & I record is listed in RA as an album by The Regulars.
There is no connection. I & I and Regulars are not the same.

Glad to see that bellyman agrees with me.
I know that the RA is not perfect
(although it is pretty darn close to it!!!)

...But still, just to satisfy my curiosity, is there anybody that can provide any additional info about this album regarding production credits, Players' of instruments, studios, engineers, mixers, producer(s), etc.? I'm not even sure that the back of the album cover has this info...surely somebody has this album in thier collection and can share this info?!!! Thank you. aDAm

the connection is that anthony rockwood benjamin (Tony Benjamin ) was the former member of the regulars& he is the lead vocal on I&I, i dont remember but i think the name of regulars vas mentionned on the back cover of the LP as it was mentionned on the back cover of Tony Benjamin solo album " African rebel".

all i can say is that 4 members were very influent
-1st album 1979: alan king pin (lead) tony benjamin (lead) trevor seal salmon (bass) & chiki donegan (rythm guitar+backing)

-On Ghetto rock neither T.Benjamin nor King pin appears ,Trevor Salmon & Chiki made the vocals & they did it very well !!

- i dont have soundoff's album a friend lent year ago & i wondered the same thing as you , sure tony benjamin appeared on it but the others?? i dont remember sorry.

Also the solo album of Tony Benjamin were made before ghetto rock album ,on the album King pin appears on backing vocal not seal salmon or chiki
We can suppose that after the success of their 1st album the band had some tension who is leader who will make the destiny of the band etc etc ...i hope you follow me...
Also we can see that is not totally the same name once it is the regular(s) once regular reggae regular(s) too, there is also a 12" with the name of rebel regulars.

same things with matumbi with 4th street orchestra african stones or riot squad every time a member or a lead vocal changes the name changes too...
