Greetings idrens and sistrens!
aside from circles of reggae fans, the role of the mixer is often overlooked when considering what goes into making an amazing record. a skilled hand at the mixing board can make all the difference in the world especially inna dub and roots stylee.
who is your favorite mixer? and what are some of your favorite sets to be mixed by them?
for I, Sylvan Morris cannot be beat. his touch is impeccable and the amount of amazing albums under his belt only affirm this.
Cultural Dub makes me want to cry it is so beautiful...

Re: Who is Your Favorite Mixer?
Aside from the obvious greats like Mad Professor, Chemist, Scientist, Jammy and Tubby...
MARK LUSARDI...
is one of the lesser known, but ultra wicked UK roots engineers from the late 70's and early 80's... He is responsible for the crucial UK roots sound on albums by: H.T. Spliff, Pablo Gad, Creation Rebel, Revelation and Dennis Bovell (8th st. Orchestra), etc. just to name a few listed here on the RA...
(DONDIGITAL)...I think that MICHAEL RILEY is one of the hardest engineers of the Mid 80's style roots and dancehall masterpieces like the one you speak of...again, probably not one of the best known, but surely one of the best talented engineers of the time!!
Check these two engineers on the RA to find some of the best albums ever released...

@ Jahadambom-
Ites! this Mark Lusardi is killer!!! i never knew who was mixing behind Gad and all Creation Rebel sets but had always loved that sound in particular. thanks for the info, will definitely check for his work!
@ Oras-
true true many studio one sets shine with his help.
Scratch's genius cannot be denied. Columbia Colly and Party Time were in the selection today and as always, i was blown away by his ear and ability to bring forth very interestng sounds from the instruments, almost creating new parts from combos of the others...
