Re: John Holt
The Paragons, who had John on lead vocals, was pioneering the rocksteady era and made some great songs.
I am not that fond of his solo outings. However, he made an album, produced by Henry Lawes, called Police In Helicopter, which is well worth having.
I also recall a early album produced by Coxone Dodd, which is nice.

Yes. This tune is called "Strange Things". His version is on Raw Roots volume 1, a compilation of Phil Pratt productions.

You can hear this and the other tunes on the riddim, including Big Youth, Cat Moore and the Pratt All-Stars, on Firehouse's wicked "Phil Pratt Thing" Special at:

There is also a nice Freddie McGregor version of "Strange Things" on the High Times All-Star Explosion Lp:

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his own soul?

Greetings
I have the 3 compilations of HOLT ; 1000, 2000 and 3000 Volts of Holt. I really like the way strings and Sinatra style sounds melt with rocksteady and one drop riddim. My best track is Mr Bojangles.
