Hugh Madoo

Post by mikeydread »

Can anyone give me some info as to what happened to this fabulous artist. I have all three of his albums but my fav. is JAMAAZIMA POP STYLE. In my opinion this is one of the TOP 5 best roots albums ever. If anyone else feels the same please let me know.

rispek,

i did a interview wid him breddah, time ago. the original maddo. hugh maddo is Maddo likkle breddah. mos often really think it the same person. so yeah, hugh madoo singing more inna dancehall style more fast than him breddah. the pop style lp wicked, an that one him do pon the 12" greensleeves call gone mi gone inna 84.
befor mi start, the original maddo, who is osbert maddo, or just plain Madoo also spelt Maddo, madoo was nicknamed the Bionic Singer, yuh could a always heard dem seh dat pon a stereophonics sound tape. anyway, maddo tell mi seh, fram back in the day when stereophonics sound was still around, him would a sing for them exclusively, an for no other sound.when other sounds would want him to perform pon there sound he would a send out him likkle breddah hugh maddo to do the show since hugh new all of his tunes dem, seen, maddo jus didn't want to seem like a sell out, though maney flyers , posters sound tapes that may seh maddo on other sound systems, is more than likely hugh maddo. i do love hugh maddo music more, but i do have some murderer fram O. Maddo, like "rock with papa maddo", dat one more a dancehall LP, then madoo really like to do. theres also aneda one mi have fram papa maddo call 44 magnum inna DJ style, wicked.
yeah, hugh maddo later back inna the late 80's had some bullshit bangawrang shit LP call teenager in love. if yuh wahn any of him music in that style, yuh would a hffe just do a massive search framthe early to mid 80s.

bless up,

Are you refering to the dub album on C&W called *.357 Magnum Dub*?
[cover=6022,3457]

I know it uses rhythms from Madoos album *Rock With Papa Madoo*.

... or is there a vocal album by Madoo I've never heard of?

So there is no LP by that name? Simply love Madoo. One of Jamaicas nicest artists.
