Random Dub LP's - Info and Opinions please!

Post by Pots n Pans »

Hi Everybody!

A few albums, from different places, that I've been wondering about. Hope the Roots Archives massive can give me any pointers on quality, killer tracks, related albums, etc

Augustus Pablo 'Thriller'
Jah Bunny 'Dubbs International'
Junior Delgado 'Dance A Dub'
Mighty Threes 'Africa Shall Stretch Forth Her Hand'
Rico Rodriguez 'Wareika Dub'
Skin Flesh + Bone 'Dub In Blood'

Any of them worth picking up?

Wareika is a classic. Don't miss. You can get it on CD reissue.

Thriller is more an instrumental album than a dub record imo, not one of my favorite Pablo records..

talking about skin, flesh & bones +Augustus Pablo ;-)

Dance A Dub - definitely a good one, tracks differs in sound, but strong set nonetheless...

dubbs international is pretty weak.

regarding wareika dub:
I think it's a very poor dub mix keeping the source material in mind, so go for the original instrumental album which is a classic. I think "Dance a dub" is a 80s production, i don't rate any dub produced after 1980 .....

Dance A Dub is 1978, no 80s sound on this one...

my views

Augustus Pablo 'Thriller'
nice heavy roots instrudub album, pick it up.

Jah Bunny 'Dubbs International'
haven't heard it yet !!

Junior Delgado 'Dance A Dub'
nice dub counter to the EFFORT lp, good one

Mighty Threes 'Africa Shall Stretch Forth Her Hand'
vocal album is deep roots harmony, as for the dub i haven't heard it either.

Rico Rodriguez 'Wareika Dub'
hard & heavy drum 'n' bass !!

Skin Flesh + Bone 'Dub In Blood'
channel one mixed, killer dub lp.
