If you're in Kyoto, check out Jet Set (Oike-Kawaramachi-street), Workshop (Kiyamachi-Oike street), Toradra (near Teramachi street), Japonica (Teramachi-Oike dori), and a whole heap of others in that central area. Best thing you can do is buy the Kyoto Art and Culture Map guide book - available in most convenience stores - and check out the record shop map.

lordy, what a question!
hypothetically speaking, I'm going to Moscow and I'd like to know where to find Irish traditional music vinyl while I'm there!
Not so ludicrous as it sounds - I'm joking of course. It is a mad world. Jamaica may be the worst place on the planet to find di roots vinyl.
Japan may be the best possible solution to all of our archiving needs.
That said, I live in NY and it is said that you can get anything here. But you can't really.
If you want anything in a few years time, go to China.
probably...
