Nature Records?

Post by darewon »

Hi all,

I just purchased a 12 inch on Nature Records. It appears to date from the late 70s early 80s UK. The label features a polar bear sitting on a blue backround.

The sleeve is orange with the word "Empire" in a graffiti angle type face on top and disco 45 on the bottom followed by this address:

Empire Records
115 Stoke Newington RD
London N16 BBY

Artist: Samantha Rose - Three Times A Man

B/W Ranking Ronstyle - Too Much Gal Deh Fi Jerk.

Anybody know about this label?

It was a steal for 2.50! :D

Thanks!

NAture was a subsidiary label of Empire (UK) that specialized in lovers rock reggae from about '79 -'83. Most of the disco I've seen and heard are produced by a man called Les Cliff. They put out a few limited edition colored disco 45s as well. I've never seen the label you describe...the disco you mention is the first in thier catalog. I have only seen the NAture label with the Hibiscus looking flower and the one with the Image of a wave crashing.

Wait 'till you hear the Freddy Clarke 12"s on that label. There is a Freddy Clarke tune called "Star Performer" on a clear yellow Disco 45 -chill tune. Then I have a blue vinyl disco by Freddy Clarke on that label called "Never gonna change my mind" and the dubb on the flipside...Wicked tune!!!

But check this...Then I also have a white label Disco with this same freddy Clarke vocal tune (Extended mix), but on the flip side is this wicked female vocal singing "Go away little boy". Both tunes are really rootsy lovers rock reggae tunes not to be missed! I always guessed it was either Samantha Rose or Joy Mack..Can anyone help?

Thanks. aDAmBom

PS: Just remembered that I also have a dark yellow colored vinyl disco 45 by Jah Bunny on the Empire (UK) record label...another chill tune..not quite lovers rock nor is it rootsy. But good stuff, I've always been a fan of LLoyd "Jah Bunny" Donaldson.

If you are a fan of UK reggae artists (circa 1980) then you might like either one of these labels (Empire or Nature)

Thanks, aDAmBom!

The track is hot in the Lovers Rock vein.

Thanks for sharing some of the other Empire records knowledge. Hopefully, I'll be lucky enough to run into some of those as well!

Perhaps I'll scan the label and post it here as soon as I get off work.

Best,

D
