Upset the Upsetter

Post by Jonti »

Could anyone tell me what the deal is with this LP?

[cover=1196,1378]

What's the Upsetter link, and where was it produced? (And is it any good?!)

Cheers!

according to the cover of the disc it seems it is the upsetters band that is playing the instruments for king tubby. Which could have upsetted the Upsetter if he was possesive with his musicians..

Well, first, this a real great dub album and enjoyment is guaranteed.

Second, this has nothing to do with Lee Perry and I doubt any personal involvement of King Tubby too.

Third, musically these riddims are played by different bands. Some sound definitely like Aggrovators a la Bunny Lee, others are by Sly and Robbie inna Channel one style.

Some of these dubs have their vocal counterparts on a variety of albums that were recorded at Channel One Studios and mixed by people like Crucial Bunny, Scientist and Barnabas. For example, how come there is a version of this on here:

and next you have a dub to this one here:

The common link might be Bunny Lee here through his cohorts from England.
