I have Larks from the Ark which has an extended version of Concious Man on it. I see on this site that a compilation called Classic Reggae Mastercuts 1 has a Discomix of this track. Is it any different than the Larks from the Ark one? Was there a discomix released thats not available on CD?
Many thanks

Re: Another Lee Perry Discomix Question
I'm not sure... but the fact is that these extended versions are usually called also as discomixes.

I am interested to know if the dub of this discomix is anyhow different to the dub version... And is this discomix same as the one found from "Conscious Man" album.

I have all of the versions you mention and will try and listen to them tonight - ("Larks...", "Conscious Man" LP, "Conscious Man" 12, "Megaton Dub").

Re: Another Lee Perry Discomix Question
Just played all of the versions I have (see above) and the full versions on "Larks...", "Conscious.." LP and the 12" (it's the Roots Records pressing) and they all sound exactly the same to me.Visitor wrote:I am interested to know if the dub of this discomix is anyhow different to the dub version... The dub on "Megaton...." appears to be the exact same dub that is the dub on the discomix.
I can only assume my 12" is the same mix as the Ballistic/Seven Leaves pressings. Leggo are you out there? Can you give input on that?

I hope it wasn't to hard listening to that track 4 times
I could think of a lot of worse things to do.

Re: Another Lee Perry Discomix Question
Like 6anbatte says, Three of them are the same:
- Larks From The Ark
- Conscious Man (the album)
- Conscious Man (Roots Records CDM press)
All three are the same as the one on "Classic Reggae Mastercuts 1".
The Ballistic 12 inch press is an edited version, more or less in between the 7 inch and the 12 inch.

Re: Another Lee Perry Discomix Question
Thanks Ron. I was looking for a release date for the Roots Records 12". Can I assume it was also 1992? Or maybe 1993 when the "Conscious Man" LP was released?
