Re: Little John
This one is on CD too.
[cover=3130,941]
[Edit] After seeing the topic, I put on the above CD and happened to be looking through the "Rough Guide to Reggae" and was curious what they had to say about Little John:
"Little John has, however, enjoyed the more enduring career (compared to Sammy Dread), even if he often sounded as if suffereing from a bad cold. Before reaching his teens he could ride a rough rhythm with aplomb, and he injected whatever he was singing with an unstoppable energy..."
The "bad cold" comment seems a little harsh. I think on this album where he is backed by Roots Radics, he sounds a lot like a young Sugar Minott.
Regards,
Chris

Re: Little John
There is a recent CD out of all his Black Solidarity stuff called "Juggling". It's alittle bit more towards the digi style but still really nice plus there are a few rub-a-Dub bangers in there as well. Anyone know what LP that tune "Do it to me" is on from Jammy$????

Re: Little John
i've got to say i really don't like little john. theres a review of the recent george phang compilations on the allmusic guide that i totally agree with... basically saying great album but little john just ruins it by cropping up with his poor tracks, he sounds out of tune on half of them and the rest are just boring.

The George Phang productions are not his best output.

Re: Little John
He's got some brilliant tracks "Smoke Ganja Hard" "Jah Guide I" "Unwilling Baby Mother" "Babylon" "Reggae Dance" some nice stuff for King Jammy, that i couldn't live without.

Re: Little John
He's really really out of tune on "Reggae Dance" but I've always loved his first one "A1 Sound" with Captain Sinbad c/w "Modelling" which (being a man who has a heavy cold most of the tine as well) I've been known to sing in the shower... Am I right in saying that "A1 Sound" was just about the first appearance on record of "style-ee"? Also really like "Do the Belly Roll" off one of the Showdown albums.
