Lumumba from Argentina

Post by I-Lion Tafari »

Ites deh!

Found great sound files on rootslatino.com. One is Lumumba - Escúchame from 1997.

I need the album where this heavy killa tune is featured on. Don`t know the album title.

Anybody know, where I can buy this album on CD?

Unfortunately, I don`t speak any Spanish, so I can`t deal with a Spanish website.

Who can help me, please??
Thank you.
Respect due, nuff greetings,

Ites I-Lion,
well, i´m from argentina, so i can give you some info. Lumumba was a legendary band from here, they were together at the end of the '90s. The song you are looking for is from their second and IMO best album (1997) called Raices y cultura (i.e. Roots and Culutre), but it's out of print almost since it was released. Their first album (Lumumba, 1996) was reissued just some months ago, and you'll find it on www.labelrecord.com , but i got to tell you that this album is not as rootsy as the second one, from wich you've listened that wicked tune. The first one is in a more sound system style. Anyway, check that site, it's in english and you'll find almost any argentinian reggae album available on the stores here.

Besides this, i tell you that Lumumba was a reggae project from some members from a great band called Todos tus muertos. They used to play several styles, from punk to latin, and on their albums there were usually some great reggae songs. I saw their albums are available on amazon (check the last one, El camino real). The two singers on that band became to rasta faith, and finally started solo reggae careers. Fidel Nadal (aka just Fidel) is from the bobo ashanti, he worked in Mano Negra (with Manu Chao), and he is a legend here in south america. He sings mostly ragga and conscious dancehall styles, and have edited several albums.
The other singer is Pablo Molina, who has a reaaaally nice and sweet voice, and is the one who sings on the track escúchame you've listened. He sings mostly lovers and conscious roots, and edited an album the last year (En el valle de la deciZion). There's a mp3 section on his website ( www.pablomolinamusic.com.ar ) He also was the singer of a band called Abed Nego, wich relaesed just one album (but IMO one of the best albums ever recorded here) called Reggae classics en español (reggae classics sung in spanish), you can check this one on labelrecord too. On todos tus muertos and lumumba, they used to sing together, combining Pablo's sweet and Fidel more aggresive voices. Oh! it was great, and we are always here wondering if they will be togehter ...
Well bro, i'll be very pleased if i can help you, so don't hesitate to ask any more info. You know, there are some really great reggae bands here, mostly with a very rootsly style, and i´ll be happy helping them to get known.
One love
RasFelipe
