late 70's song by singer on an old dance tape

Post by Dougie »

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a singer by the name of George Narcis or Naracis (not sure how the last name is spelled)?

I was listening to an old late 70's early 80's dance tape and one of the DJs on the sound introduced the record as a tune by George Narcis or Naracis. The record is possibly called "My Love Is Not A Plaything". The rhythm starts out just like the soul record "Love That A Woman Should Give A Man". I believe I have the reggae version of "Love That A Woman Should Give A Man" on a Joe Gibbs 7" so the record might be on the Joe Gibbs label.

If anyone has any information on this record or the singer please get back to me on this site or email me. Thanks!!!

I don't believe its George Nooks because the DJ said George Narcis or Naracis.

But, if you know of a song that fits the description I gave by George Nooks I'd appreciate any information you have on it (45, 7", LP, correct title, year, label, etc).

George Narcisse is Scion Sashay Succuss if you could perhaps give more song lyrics but i think it may be 'If A Minstral' you are thinking.

Thanks rasdragon, Nuff Respect!!

I'll look into Scion (Succuss?) or Success and the LPs you mentioned.

If I get the chance I'll post the link to the dance tape. The song was played during a King Mellow dance in 1984 in Pine Apple (Ochi Rios). The tape can be heard on the site "Who Cork The Dance", which is a nice site to listen old dance tapes from the late 70's - early/mid 80's.

The song is played 34 minutes and 50 seconds into the tape and like I said the rhythm track is based off of the soul song "The Love That A Woman Should Give A Man".

The lyrics goes something like: My Love Is Not A Play Thing, My Love Is A Treasure Of Gold. I Really Want To Give It To You.......

Thanks RasDragon! I did some more research and I believe the title is actually "MY LOVE" and its on a Scion Success (aka George Narcise) 12" on the Ashantites label.

If you or anyone else have it or know where I can get it, I'm interested.

OK
Then also look for Greensleeves 12" #142.
Sammy Levi - It A Go Done // Sammy Levi - My Love
It is actually Scion Success.

Thanks!

I found it on the original Ashantites 12" by Scion Success. Waiting for it to arrive to check the quality.
