Suffered a nerve disease called MYASTHENIA GRAVIS,but prefered herbal remedies from Dr Owen S 'Bagga" Forrester, a Rastafarian herbalist,over Western medicine.

horace swaby was his real name; i am surprised he came from a lower middle class area because "swaby" is a fairly well off family centered in mandeville.

the name "augustus pablo" was assumed by him or given to him by someone (clive chin?) when the prior "augustus pablo" (i forget who that was...for some reason glen adams comes to mind but i dont think it was him) abandoned it.

he never looked entirely well to me and was a very quiet, reclusive, almost paranoid person. that is backed up by a number of people i know who either dealt with him or knew him from the 70s on. he rarely trusted anyone he didnt know from childhood and probably for good reason.

the few times i saw him on stage he was pretty perfunctory in his performance, but it was nice nonetheless especially when he was being backed by rockers all stars.

one of his daughters is a artist or clothes designer i believe. in new york?
i heard some stories about him from a few different people and i dont know if i believe all of it...
i learned you cant judge a person bassed on what someone has told you.
but i know he was a great musician
