roots records

Post by jb welda »

someone brought up this company the other day but now i cannot find the thread so i just thought i would mention i was, coincidentally, listening to one of their releases called foundation of roots vol 1 and it was very impressive. anyone else have this? there were some tracks by uk artists (i assume) i had not heard much from and this one track guns and dogs i believe its called (not home to check for sure) is A#1 as are a few more there i dont recall the titles of.

while the other thread said they dissolved into tuneless dub releases, i have to say this compilation is the sh*t, for real.

just looked it up, the roy shirley track is very nice, of course the justin hinds and earl sixteen tracks are stellar, mikey mystics burial is killer, as mentioned singer jay (never heard of him)'s track guns and dogs crucial and even gt moores turn israel was very nice.

somehow when i first bought this it got listened to and put on the shelf and im glad i pulled it out. too bad roots records evidently went kaput because judging by this they should have thrived.

i think there was a parallel dub release and i think ive got that too but as of right now its lost on the shelves somewhere.

one love
