Although U Roy is not the first DJ to make records, he is often referred to as the 'Originator' because of the popularity of his early records and the influence of his style. U Roy's style was different from that of (earlier) DJ's like his early inspiration Count Machuki. Hope this helps.

well, in my opinion, i roy was the creator of the most intelligent lyrics and style, so i would like to think that once he chimed in, the rest could not help but be inspired by him. although totally different styles...but iroy delivered some social messages that i think may have been continued by those after him?
