Peter Tosh - Ketchy Shuby - meaning?

Post by Stick-a-Bush »

I'm not Jamaican, so I might be missing something obvious - but is this song supposed to be about PT getting 'hand relief' from his girlfriend?

I've always wondered what that meant and assumed it was something "naughty"! BTW, Stick a Bush could be construed a certain way, I've always thought!

Stick a Bush is blatantly a song about Albert Griffiths' sexual exploits.

What about Tosh's "Coming In Hot"? If there's another reggae song that's more obviously about masturbation without stating it overtly, then I've yet to hear it.

Ketchy Shuby is an informal version of cricket played on the street or park. It usually comprises of a batsman, bowler and one or two fielders, only.
"How is that, Umpire? Clean bowl!", as the man Prince Far I used to say.

My guess is that many of these songs are meant to have dual meanings, not just one or the other. Everyone knows what Stir it Up is about really, don't we?
