Headlining is one of Dub music’s masters, a man who is an integral part of the fabric of the history of Dub music; none other than Jamaica’s own SCIENTIST. From his time as protégé to Dub originator King Tubby, through to ground breaking productions like 1980’s The Best Dub album in the World, working as the chief sound engineer on legendary imprint Studio One, to his current position as Dub royalty, Hopeton Brown has seen the sounds of Jamaica develop over the past 4 decades to envelop both popular music and culture, and the minds of thousands of music fans. Playing live with a 5 piece band, The Scientist will take you on an interplanetary ital voyage - not be missed if you’re at all interested in the history and development of modern electronic music.
Another man who’s played a vital part in the representation of true roots music and culture is our chief selector on the night, DAVID 'RAMJAM' RODIGAN. The original Roots Rocker, David has been blowing up speakers since the mid-70’s, and his fiercely enthusiastic performances behind the decks see him take in any real Jamaican music you can feel in your gut, from classic reggae and dancehall to current Dubstep and beyond. Currently holding down a Sunday show on Kiss FM for the 20th consecutive year, Rodigan is set to give the Sin City crowd a proper education.
Bringing us bang up to date with the biggest dubs available, Sin City residents and all round Dubstep legends HATCHA & N-TYPE will be playing one of their famed back-to-back sets, taking in straight club bangers and the tightest selection around - you can expect quick fire mixing and exclusives galore, as these two hype the crowd to devastating effect.
Another back-to-back set comes from two of the scenes current favourites, APPLEBLIM & RAMADANMAN, who’ll be representing Applepips and Hessle Audio respectively. Producing some of the most forward thinking bass music that these isles have produced for some time, you can expect Dubstep-to-Techno-to-Funky-to-Jungle and back again.
Garage/Dubstep legends El-B & J DA FLEX will be holding down another back-to-back set as they bring the best in classic Garage and forward thinking Dubstep, ahead of the spring release of Ghost records first compilation Nu Levels, whilst the anything goes Dubstep/Electronica movements of the SOUL JAZZ SOUND SYSTEM showcase the very best music to come out of their Soul Jazz stable.
Tying things up with be Jungle and Drum n’ Bass legend KENNY KEN & MC SKIBADEE, playing an exclusive Jungle set for the Sin City faithful, so expect crashing amen’s and rapid fire lyrics galore!
In Room 2 we have a straight Dubstep/Funky/Garage line-up as ONEMAN headlines ahead of his Rinse 10 compilation, with the man like YOUNGSTA bringing his trademark half-step sound before KROMESTAR goes back-to-back with WALSH and HENY G takes on JAY 5 for more dubplate battles. All this overseen by the lyrical talents of CRAZY D, VIPER & TOAST.
