I know Puddy Roots has some lines in spanish...
and I can't remember at the top of my head right now but there is one DJ who mentions MEXICO in his songs.

Mexicano aka Rudy Grant didn't speak spanish.
Peter Metro knew about 12 words. Still a few more than I Roy!

A few dodgy songs by reggae artists could be the cheesy Guantanamera by Freddy McGregor (he couldn't understand the lyrics...I asked him!)
Or Tony Rebel's spanish version of If Jah.

Laurel Aitken could speak fluent spanish (as a cuban)...but probably not Roots Archives material. Same with the many latinamerican or spanish reggae bands of the 80s.

This is TIERRA SUR, a reggae band from Peru that was founded in 1988. This song is from their first album and was a hit during the 90's in Peru; Date, 1992. Though not roots-archives material, it is worth checking it out. It has that digital sound of the 90's. Tierra Sur is playing again around Peru, opening for many reggae greats, recently with Gregory Isaacs and The Wailing Souls. Irie times!

Spanish reggae born in Panama in late 70's during the construction of Panama Canel, if I remeber correctly.

Reggaeton is very common too... :)

You mean Reggae in spanish?
Reggae in spanish and "Spanish reggae" are 2 different things.
Is a very common error in the US media...it seems that they aren't very good at geography or even history.

I dont know whats exactly the difference, Reggae made in JA with spanish lyrics means Reggae in spanish? Panama reggae is Spanish reggae?

How would you classify this? (Potato, a pre-90's band from Spain)
