Linvals late 70's productions

Post by kalcidis »

The discussion in the *Last LP you bought* thread made me think a bit. What albums did use those great Linval productions of the late 70's that popped up on so many Burning Sounds releases?

It would be nice to set up some kind of website that sorts up and shows what rhythms were used to what songs and so on.

I too would really like to see full list matching these rhythms. I don't have all of the above-mentioned LPs but the majority of them, maybe one day I'll get them all out and do some collating. For one thing, I don't believe any of the DJ or dub albums are the direct match of the vocal LPs, although I think Negrea Love Dub might be close to Love is the Question as track for track. The Mystic Eyes album also shares many riddims from Follow My Heart (and also Outlaw Dub) but again not track for track.

To get it started...

'Lion and Tiger'-L. Thompson (Folllow My Heart)
'Born to Love Rastafari' -Mystic Eyes (Mysterious)
'I Love You Girl' -Trinity (Have a Little Faith)
'79 Rock'-Revolutionaries/Jammys (Outlaw Dub)

All of these share the same riddim. Incidentally the Trinity album
[cover=3049,3471]
is the Canadian issue of Rock in the Ghetto, but with slight variations in the tracks.

To be continued...:D

Yeah, I knew about the Trinity LP but didn't post it since it's the same as Rock In The Ghetto as you said. Same reason I didn't post the [cover=1876,2214] since it's the same as Follow my Heart. I actually myself have the Micron issue and not the Trojan-version of the Trinity LP. Figured I'd post the first one to be released.

How do you know the Trojan was released first?

Well I don't. Just took for granted that the years presented at R-A were correct and in that case the Trojan was released '79 and Micron in '80.

Jahson, good initiative btw. I'll start doing some write ups soon too.

Love is the Question - L. Thompson
Poor Man - Ranking Dread
Love Can Conquer - Big Joe
Love Is The Answer - Prince Mohammed

I believe the dub is on the *Negrea Love* set, just can't recall which.
