Big Up !! i am thinking to buy my first turntable to begin to build my reggae collecion. A man offer me a Sony Ps-434 , is this one a good one to begin? or not good?

I'm not that knowledgeable about turntables but I think if you get it cheap and as long as you have a good amp and a new needle (so you don't damage your records with an old one!) you should be fine. Buy it, give it a try. Does the music sound good to you ... then it's all good. If not sell it and buy a new one..

But I think it should sound fine ... Sony is a big company and even if it might not be their best model I'm certain they wouldn't release turntables that are complete rubbish.

And if you buy it do write a small review here so the next-man wondering might find this thread.

i agree with kalcidis but dont forget cheap stuff have tendency to break fast and will have to be replaced more frequently than for example technics sl-1210 which goes for life (bought mine more than 15 years ago and still no problem what so ever)
i guess it all depends how often you intend to use your turntable
