tappa zukie

Post by mick d »

I've always been tempted to buy an album of tappa's, but haven't yet. Any recommendations? What would you compare his sound to? Do you consider any of his albums crucial roots classics? Thanks everyone.

None are crucial although the MPLA album is a good place to start.

Another good one is Tappa Zukie in Dub on the Blood and Fire label.

Personally I have always found him a far better producer of other artists than he is a a deejay.

Check out his Stars label for some good releases.

"Man Ah Warrior" is his best album.

man ah warrior LP is hard deejay toasting, top ranking LP by zukie. raggy joey boy LP has some hits! I have several TZ LP's on vinyl for sale at http://www.bomreggae.gemm.com including the original "MAn ah warrior" LP from 1977. ROOTSMAN AT WORK is right about his productions of other artists, they are all murderers...Ras allah, Junior Ross, cornell campbell, welton Irie, Junior reid....the list continues! Hit me up for vinyls, peoples! aDam

Maybe yu cyan start wid Trojan´s compilation "Musical Intimidator: Anthology 1974-1982" and wid "MPLA" (Front LIne).
Tappa Zukie also was a great producer. Crucial stuff are Prince Alla & Junior Ross´ "I Can Hear The Children Singing 1975-1978" (Blood and Fire) and de album "Hail Dread" by Knowledge.
