Hi,
Is this release good and worth picking up.

I`ve seen the jet star re-issue and wondered what it was like.
Thanks

Hmmm i havent heard it but i wouldnt buy it because there are many other King Tubby albums outthere for example, Dub Like Dirt, Termination Dub, Dub Fever etc... which are very good and i doubt the quality of this.

It's alright. Didn't keep it. There's better ones out there.

Re: King Tubby
I disagree with soufriere1.
This, in my opinion, is a classic Tubby Dubby. Not to be missed. I especially like the mix of the classic 'come on little girl' riddim.
Although the re-release on CD by JetStar appears to be a simple recording of a vinyl record, complete with pops and crackles!
You might as well pick it up on one of the original LP pressings.

To each his own. Just for me, compared to the other Dub Lp's I own (Tubby Stuff included), I didn't find it terribly exciting. I had the Fay Music copy - think it was the OG. I'd take the King Tubby Versus the Upsetter Fay Music LP over it if only for the "Luke Lane Rock" on the Tubby side. Now that's captivating.

I hold both the Tubby and Upsetter, and Surrounded By Dreads in the same revere. I heard both LPs around the same time long ago and kind of associate them together. BOTH are real favourites of mine.

Hi,
Picked up this album in the end.
Have to agree woth soufriere1, didn`t do much for me. I liked the Tony Brevett & Prince Herron tracks + dubs but the 1st 7 tracks just weren`t that exciting. Like the man said, i`ve heard better plus sound quality pretty crap.
Respect
Dave.
