i did a punk cover of heptones - book of rules. i'll post it if anyone's interested. as for the OP, pretty much anything will work nicely in reggae and any rocksteady tune will be even better, due to simple chord sequences and catchy vocals, but i always wanted to do punk cover of mighty diamonds - natural natty and johnny osbourne - nyah man

I always liked the beat when I was young. I grew up with my parents listening to classic rock from the late 70's early 80's, and eric claptons version of I shot the sherrif was always a good listen for me, as well as the reggae sounding songs the police did. I went to jamaica when i was about 12 and started liking it even more. And the I got into to punk music and bad brains, and that was the deal sealer for me.
Just for a thought, have a go at a more uptempoed black uhuru song. They have some I might would consider trying if I were to be in your shoes. Sly and Robbie also do a good version of walking on the moon by the police, and if you know like I know, the police in the 70's were basically a lighter form of punk music.

maybe somewhere... allot of the tapes from that time, along with my tascam 414 and various recording equipment was stolen in a "residential drug burglary"....
sounds bogus, but its true.
