Re: TommyMcCook "Reggae In Jazz" on Pressure Sounds
There is no utter madness theme here . Having listened to the sound clips , there is top end distortion on tracks 5 and 6 , the same as on the PS release .Also there is slight top end mush on tracks 7,8,9 and 12 on the clips , again same as the CD . I assume the pressing is responsible for this .
Doesn't stop me listening to it though

Whilst there are quality issues on the original straight rip sound clips I think the PS clips sound much worse I think they have spoiled the sound

This is a general assumption here , ok (tu). How on earth can you deduce absolute sound quality from a low bit rate , lowest common denominator sh*t sample put up on a website with extremely limited bandwidth ? Surely we can't comment unless we hear the source in question ?

If I had taken too much notice of the quality of sound clips then I`d be missing a whole heap of great music.
And it sure does sound so much better played on a high quality sound system than listening to a 128kbps sound clip played through a tin pot laptop

Pampasjudas on Blood and fire forum has the vinyl and says.."got my copy (on vinyl) by mail today.
i agree, the sound is really bad, especially beginning with track 3 on side A.
mind you, i had never heard most of the tracks before on any other release, so i don't exactly know how they should sound, if properly mastered.
nevertheless, i can tell that, at least to my ears, "Wild Bunch", "Bam Bam" and "Black Out" don't sound right at all.
"funny" how, for instance, on "Black Out" the melodica sounds pretty all right, but all the percussive parts sound just awful, and in a hissing, aggressive way".

That doesn't quite work when other PS releases sound clips on Amazon sound fine and that's on the same pc with the same headphones..... I haven't heard the sound files and no vinyl copy yet, so I cannot speak for the music in question. But generally you may not have better sound quality from the High End equipment when you have a distortion problem. In fact it will even sound worse, because the better your HiFi gear the more truth it reveals. It will bring you just close to the initial sound source.Rootsman wrote:AnorakTrev wrote :This is a general assumption here , ok . Is anybody here owning/knowing the original vinyl pressing? Does it suffer from the same distortion issues?
