Also, I get really tired of the Black Ark hi hat sound. Am I the only one? Every tune has that same high pitch bell hi hat sound. It gets old and I fixate on it to where I just get sick of even listening to Black Ark era stuff. That must sound crazy to many of you. Oh well.

I know what you mean, but I'd take black ark high hat sound over Bunny Lee's wretched flying cymbals any day. Flying cymbals make me want to poke my ears out with a compass

Great release, but "Beat Down Comrade Man" is NOT Junior Byles. Rather than being "a political tune in support of Michael Manley", it's obviously an anti-socialist tune that was done by someone else in support of the JLP and a parody of "Beat Down Babylon".

Do you know who it is singing this then Mick? I have to say I found this track really odd when I listen to it, it just doesn't quite sound right to me, so I'm intrigued to hear you say it's not byles

Not a big fan of the typical Black Ark hihat sound either, but it's allright.

Basically... Black Ark hi hat annoys me after a couple of tunes. Flying cymbals annoy me after one second.

Too true; I'll also take the Black Ark hi hat over flying cymbals!!! I used to love the Black Ark hi hat actually, but somewhere along the line I just got tired of it.

@Congo Bunny - no idea who is singing, but you can certainly tell it's not Junior Byles. And with lines like "and I am a good, good Labour man" and "Labour is our salvation" it's clearly not in support of Michael Manley as the liner notes claim!

Not a Lee perry production or a dubplate either I Have it on 7" blank with GG matrix number other side is Labour gonna beat them with Peter Tosh soundalike both recorded over Joe Gibbs tracks

To be brutally honest (and somewhat bitchy) here, I thought that they'd already hit the bottom of the barrel with the first lot of 'rare and unreleased' Perry stuff they released.

Listened to it, put it away, listened to it maybe a couple more times over the next six months, thought 'meh' and then sold it.

And I like Bunny Lee's flying cymbals.
