I do think that the Water Pumping version is different and made at a later point in time. In my original post I just wanted to add information about the tune appearing on, in one form or another, that disc. While I'm at at it, I should mention that Bim Sherman's cover of this song is worth owning as well. Great tune all round.

Greetings,
Many Thanks for your responses! Here is a sound clip from the Techniques 7" of Purify Your Heart:

It does not seem to be the same track used on the Trojan Roots Boxset, but sounds very good as well! Is this possibley the 12" Winston Riley cut that was mentioned and maybe the version used on the Trojan Roots Boxset:

Thanks Bellyman,
I saw this one on EBay not too long back.. but it was a little bit out of my budget. Are any other of the songs on this album comparable to the two previously mentioned tracks?

Has that Nyah Man song something to do with the Nyah Man one in this album or is it a different tune?

Hi wareika! Can't comment on the JA 12". You could right about it carrying a different B side to the UK Black Joy one.

This is the same UK pressing I mentioned except the seller probably has it on black vinyl.

A little off topic.

This thread, and especially the comment about "Water Pumping" push me to spine the Osbourne's LPs produced by Jammy. Got three LPs: "Water Pumping", "Reggae On Broadway" (AKA "Musical Choper") and "Rub A Dub Soldier".

The best one IMHO is Rub A Dub Soldier which mixed digital and non digital tunes.

@Jah Chicken
The 'Ready or not' album really is a collection of singles produced by Winston Riley for his Techniques label in he early 70s. The Big Shot label put them together and released this album by crediting it to Johnny Osbourne though only four of his songs are featured here.
Ready or not, My name is Man, Purify my heart and Nyah man are Johnny's and they all are great.
Other songs feature Max Romeo (Nobody's child, Sexy Sadie, Evening News) and Prince Far I (Deck of Cards; great alternating version of this to Joe Gibbs' version) plus an unknown DJ and two dub/instrumental versions.
