Levi Root's (+ various artists lp) 'Jah Will Never Let You Down' has some string sounds on several of the tunes. They sound ok, but I'd rather hear the tunes on that lp without the strings.

the violing player pon your riddim (white rum raymond) has also played on john holts' "the tide is high". apparently this tune was hot in jamiaca in its time... i imagine white rum has been featured on several other well known songs.

in modern roots reggae clinton fearon uses violin on his last two albums ...some nice tunes!!
i remember in Matumbi "Matumbi" album two fantastic sound with the violin who makes the sound really deep ...i talk about "Blood of Jesus" & "Malfunction"

in new roots too is so good chanting nyabinghi in midnight landing LP of 10 ft ganja plant. all track with chello, rythim guitar and drums, highly recommended

). By the way, how do you know his name, is he a member of the Simplicity People (Gussie P)? Is he Jamaican?
